PLC Coexistence Standards

Overview

Power Line Communication (PLC) systems provide a communication platform capable for various Smart Grid applications such as advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and vehicle to grid (V2G) communications. However, the use of broadband (BB)-PLCs is obstructed by the existence of non-interoperable technologies developed by various SDOs (standards developing organizations), which are IEEE, ITU-T, and IEC. This project is targeting to resolve the open issue of coexistence between three non-interoperable broadband Power Line Communication standards.
